Kids 'n Vue Security

At Kids ‘n Vue we take security very seriously. A number of security measures are taken to make sure that only authorized users of the system can gain access.

User ID and password authentication forms the basis for user access. While Kids ‘n Vue maintains a central database of passwords, they are encrypted and cannot be read. Furthermore, they cannot be ‘un’ encrypted. When you enter your password, the system encrypts your entry and compares it to the encrypted password that is stored in the database. If they match, you are authorized. In this way, no one else can know your password, not even someone at Kids ‘n Vue!

The system uses an ‘invitation only’ method to register users. A new user will receive a registration key that is required to create their user ID and password. Each user will receive a unique, 20 character key that has to be entered before they can sign up to gain access. This key is distributed outside of the web-based system.

A user has 5 tries to enter a valid password. After that, the user ID is suspended and the user will need to take additional steps to regain access. This prevents ‘brute-force’ attacks, and will stop those who are trying to guess someone’s password. The system also prevents someone from being logged in more than once at any given time.

Encryption is also used in the communication of information to and from your PC. You will notice a ‘lock’ symbol, usually located in the lower right corner of the browser window. This signifies that encryption is enabled. Encryption is used for all screens that contain sensitive information, including the main web cam screen. The encryption used is 128 bit, classified as ‘high level security’.

The same encryption is also used for the streaming video feed. This causes a slight decrease in performance, but is another security step that we at Kids ‘n Vue felt should be taken to protect day care center images as they traverse the Internet.

The last security measure taken is an automatic logoff feature. After approximately 15 minutes, a user will be logged off, and will need to login again to continue. This minimizes the chance of unauthorized access through an unattended PC.

In summary, our daycare camera service extends a child care provider's open door policy. Only authorized users have access to the Kids 'n Vue web cams. ALL ACCESS, (both unsuccessful and successful attempts), are logged and carefully monitored.

Refer your daycare center today, and enjoy all of the benefits that come from a Kids 'n Vue web camera system.
